We are John and Mary Vrbanac. We love coffee, people, and everything in between. Bittersweet Coffee Company was established real-time in September 2022 but began in our hearts much earlier. The name bittersweet comes from the meanings of Mary’s name where Mara, the root of Mary means “bitter” and Dulcie, her middle name meaning sweet. She began creating a coffee shop menu in 2004 but the dream didn’t become a reality until she met her husband who loves coffee like a nerd loves excel spreadsheets! John began his love for coffee after a trip to Seattle in 2003. After college and the rising costs of buying coffee, John dove headfirst into all the technical aspects from the espresso makeup to the espresso machine. When God brought them together in the fall of 2021, the dream to open up a coffee business became a reality.
